The 22 Fund is an impact, growth equity fund investing in tech-based and tech-enabled manufacturing companies to increase their export capacity, positioning them to accelerate growth and scale. The 22 focuses on regions with export trade initiatives. Initial target markets are Southern California, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Central New York, Atlanta and San Antonio.
The 22’s mission is job creation in low and moderate Income (LMI) areas. We focus on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and women and minority-owned businesses to create and sustain manufacturing jobs.
For example, the Los Angeles metropolitan area is the largest manufacturing center in the U.S. with more manufacturing jobs than the state of Michigan. Los Angeles is also the largest exporting region and has the greatest number of SMEs in the U.S., the majority being minority and/or women-owned. California’s economy is the sixth largest in the world, and over one-third of its GDP is produced in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana metropolitan area.
